About Bee By The Sea
Bee By The Sea Natural Products was founded in 2008 by Andrew Wingrove, a native of south central Ontario, Canada.
Our story is unique because the product concept did not originate from either a chemist's lab or from cosmeticians. Our products exist today because of a chance discovery of an herb - Sea Buckthorn (hippophae rhamnoids) that Andrew discovered while working abroad as a consultant.
After some research he quickly discovered that these amazing plants had already been brought to Canada by the Ministry of Agriculture! Andrew's lifetime interest in biology and agriculture combined with previously owning two farm properties, made it a natural progression to planting his own Sea Buckthorn orchard near Sundridge, Ontario. Andrew was fascinated by the healing properties of this ancient plant!
At the same time, Andrew's father, John Wingrove, was actively promoting a honey based skin cream and was seeing the benefits and popularity of this unusual product. Andrew felt that by combining honey and Sea Buckthorn he could create products that provided nutrition and skin health unlike anything else on the market.
In 2008, after 12 months of research, development, and testing of various samples, Andrew was ready to launch his signature body cream to the public. Made in small batches, Andrew continues to personally add the key ingredients - unpasteurized honey and Sea Buckthorn - ensuring consistency and quality in all of his products.
Within three years, Bee By The Sea was being sold in over 160 stores across Canada and the United States.

The incredible healing properties of this plant have been well known and documented in Eastern Europe and Asia for centuries but only recently has it been recognized in North America.
Sea Buckthorn is known to combat dry and prematurely aging skin as well as skin irritations such as rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, burns (radiation and sun), and damaged skin due to laser surgery.
The fruit and oils are ideal for skin and hair health due to high levels of the following nutrients:
- rich in Omega 3-6-9 and 7!
- as much as 15 times the Vitamin C of oranges per volume!
- the second highest natural source of Vitamin E in the plant world
- loaded with Beta Carotene

Our skin care line is specifically blended using the right mixture of fruit, seed, and pulp Sea Buckthorn oils in combination with honey, royal jelly, and other healthy ingredients.
As a food source, Sea Buckthorn fruit is considered one of the new "super foods" of North America. Since being introduced to North America more than a decade ago, the fruit has been made available in a number of foods. Keeping in mind that Sea Buckthorn is a citrus fruit, jams and juices are the most common uses.
